Www.booksbyrule.com is a website administered by friends and relatives and dedicated to the views of Colter Rule, M. D.

Dr. Rule was a physician and practicing psychiatrist who, long after he retired from medicine,  continued to see a few patients although he said that they did much more for him than he did for them.  His background -- as described by surviving cronies -- was broad, deep and "restless".  A graduate of Johns Hopkins School of Medicine he continued training in internal medicine followed by research at The Rockefeller Institute (now Rockefeller University).  A specialist in  Internal Medicine but continually encountering the problems and puzzles of human behavior, he gave up a busy practice to undertake years of training in psychiatry and psychoanalysis.

Questioning the prevailing theories, Freud, Adler, Jung and others, he began an extensive study of the evolution of human behavior beginning with our primitive animal cousins the monkeys and apes.  Using the rapidly accumulating findings of Jane Goodal and other field observers of non-human primates his revolutionary theory of human behavior was first published in the American Journal of Psychiatry in 1964.  Since his other papers and books many of his views, such as dominance and territoriality as observed in human behavior, have become common knowledge.

What has escaped acceptance has been the history and role of the female in human development and human affairs.  Her role in the origin of pair bonding and the family, in language, in invention of tools and in teaching the young and many other human social functioning continues to be neglected and ignored.  In short, constituting more than 50% of the human population her views in the realms of politics, government, business and education varies between non-existent and immaterial.

It is to play a role in correcting this extreme imbalance that this website is dedicated.
